China Core Group
Dr. Zongjiu Zhang , Yong pei Wu , and Qing Yan
The INRUD/China group’s key work in 2009 was to survey clinical pharmacy use and improve policy making in rational pharmacy use.
1. Improve the development of Guideline on Drug and Therapeutics Committees (DTCs) in health care facilities: There were two workshops on DTCs in Anhui Province from April 15 to 18 and Sichuan Province from June 15 to 17, 2009. One hundred and seventy-one participants, including deputy directors, physicians, and pharmacy managers, participated in these two workshops and shared their experiences.
2. Complete a draft of Evaluation Protocol on Hospital Prescription: To enhance evaluation
of prescriptions in hospital, monitor and supervise prescriptions, and improve interventions of prescriptions, INRUD/China developed a draft of the Evaluation Protocol on Hospital Prescription in 2009.
This protocol includes evaluation agency, evaluation method, content, and result publication. The draft will be revised and then submitted to the Chinese Ministry of Health.
3. Develop a draft of Management Regulation on Preventive Pharmacy Usage within clean
operation: An important issue in clinical practice is irrational use of antibacterials in China, especially in operation procedures. To improve professional monitoring of clean operation and abdominal delivery, INRUD/China developed the draft of Management Regulation on Preventive Pharmacy Usage.
This draft was submitted to the Chinese Ministry of Health for further logistical review.
4. Participate in the revision of Report and Monitor Management Rule: INRUD/China took part in the revision of Report and Monitor Management Rule. The revised document will be submitted to the Chinese Ministry of Health soon.
5. Develop the draft of the Inspection Standard of Pharmacy Management in Health Care Facilities: INRUD/China developed the draft of Inspection Standard of Pharmacy Management in Health Care Facilities in 2009 and submitted it to the Chinese Ministry of Health.
6. Launch trial of clinical apothecary: Based on the strategy of clinical apothecaries in China, there were two trial programs in hospitals launched in 2009. The clinical pharmacy
management group consisted of physicians, nurses, and pharmacists. They conducted new interprofessional relationship models and applied them to clinical practice.
7. Implemented “Policy Making Support System for Clinical Rational Pharmacy Usage” software system: The “Policy Making Support System for Clinical Rational Pharmacy Usage” software system has been implemented in the last five years. The major function was finished in 2009 and put into pilot operation in one hospital. Four more hospitals will try to install in the next round.
8. Develop “Preventive Usage of Antibacterial of Three Clean Operations in Tertiary Hospitals in China” intervention program:
The “Preventive Usage of Antibacterial of Three Clean Operations in Tertiary Hospitals in China” intervention program was concluded in September 2009. The findings from three provinces, Jiangxi Province, Guangdong Province, and Anhui Province, show that the intervention is useful.
9. Edit series of Analysis of Specialist Prescription: The department of pharmacy management, the Ministry of Health Hospital Management Institution, and the Pharmacy
Management Branch of China Hospital Association participated in editing the documents. To generalize rational pharmacy practice and protect patient safety, the book series Analysis of Specialist Prescription was edited by advanced specialists and advanced apothecaries. Two of six books (Deputy Editor Dr. Yuqin Wang) were published in 2009.
10. Annual summary and plan for next year:
